Years of prototyping in extreme conditions guided design. While many companies dove into the frenzy just a few years ago and try to dazzle consumers with claims of the lightest, fastest, premier, best, etc...Fatback advances our lead in the industry with real world improvements such as suspension corrected geometry for those who run suspension, still maintaining a massive front triangle for frame bags, all with great standover height.

The next evolution in carbon fat bike performance

Winner of Outside Magazine's 2018 Fat Bike of the Year, the all new Corvus represents 10 years of Fat bike development, culminating in the most refined carbon fat bike available anywhere. The all new carbon fat bike fork includes Anything cage mounts, uses a 150mmX15mm hub and offers incredibly precise steering. The chainstays have been shortened further to 455mm, making climbing easier, but still keeping the front wheel properly weighted. Of course, rack mounts are standard, why wouldn't they be? And three bottle cages are standard as usual (on sizes 16" and up).

Find out why Fatback has dominated the winter ultra scene for a decade!

The shop: Speedway Cycles is the true definition of an all encompassing community bike shop. They take the time to get to know you and what kind of riding you're looking to do and really make sure that you're getting the best possible ride to fit your budget.
The bike: The Corvus is fantastic. Mine is equipped with Sram's GX spec, Fatback Big Su wheels, and fitted with Terrene Johnny 5 studded tires. The crew built it up super quick after I selected what frame color and build spec I wanted and I was riding the Hillside trails in Anchorage the next day. I could tell within the first few pedal strokes that this bike is built to move out. Even with a 5" tire it got up to speed quickly and stayed there. Traction is phenomenal and the bikes geometry inspires confidence to put that traction to work. The carbon frame is stiff but not harsh and combined with the 5" tire it soaks up trail chatter and just focuses on putting power into forward momentum. The frame is flawless and shows a real attention to detail. All the cable and bottle cage bosses are perfectly placed and fit and finish are 10/10. The paint is glossy with zero imperfections and I was quick to apply some 3M film to keep it that way. The bike climbs wonderfully and weight distribution is balanced both seated and out of the saddle. The front wheel tracks and there's no waggle when putting the 50t cog to work on steep climbs. Speaking of steep climbs this bike loves them. Dial in the tire pressure and prepare to have your legs become the only limitation. I can't say enough about how great this bike rides. If you're considering a fat-bike you really need to stop into Speedway, talk to them, and take one for a test ride.

Of all the fat bikes I have ridden and owned, this one is by far and away my favorite. I originally purchased it purely to tow my kids around, but that has morphed into a bike that I love to ride everywhere in every different condition. Its seen everything from the local singletrack to the sand dunes of southern Utah, to the snow-covered trails of northern Utah. It has the ability to adapt to the terrain and keep things predictable and fun. I love the ability to run the fat 4.8 tires, especially over rough terrain. The added volume and lower pressure smooths out rough terrain and makes big rides less taxing on the body. To make the bike even more capable, I threw a 150mm dropper post and 100mm Bluto on. It completely changed the whole feel of the bike and made a very capable bike even more capable. It's the one bike I own I don't plan on getting rid of anytime soon.

Some other key benefits is the threaded BB, simple and effective through axles, HUGE front triangle (I can run 2 full-size water bottles), cage mounts on the underside of the downtube and both sides of the fork, rack mounts on the seat and chainstay, narrow Q factor (effectively as narrow as a 170mm fatty with better chain line), full carbon ,etc. I could go on. If there was only 1 bike I could own, of all the options available on the market, it would be the Corvus.

This review is a long time coming...I have been using my Corvus for three years now and it truly is amazing. Fatback has definitely perfected the carbon fat bike with this particular model. The combination of geometry and light weight (my bike is at least 15 pounds lighter than my buddy's steel framed beast) make it rideable on any trail...snow or dirt it rips! The rollover ability of fat tires makes the bike an all season trail rig. Rough and Rocky Colorado trails are a breeze even though the bike is rigid because of the plush and forgiving carbon fork along with the massive air volume of fat tires. Get your air pressure dialed for the terrain and you will be unstoppable and won't feel beat up even after hard three to five hour rides!
No regrets, only huge grins!
